But how do <em>I<\/em> actually use AI myself? I regularly work with ChatGPT, Copilot, Mirage, and NanoBanana (for images). I sometimes have mixed feelings about that. Does it really add value? Am I wasting energy? And am I still sufficiently in control? That\u2019s why I asked one of these systems\u2014ChatGPT itself\u2014to analyze how I\u2019ve been using this tool over the past period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It turns out I use ChatGPT for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strategic change and communication questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structuring and organizing information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Translating ideas into work formats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Re)writing texts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consistency checks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reflective and testing questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practical help questions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>In the analysis below, the \u201cI\u201d refers to ChatGPT and the \u201cyou\u201d refers to me as the subject of analysis. I add my personal reflections as \u201cReflection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ChatGPT\u2019s analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on your questions over a longer period of time, a fairly clear pattern emerges. Below, I (ChatGPT) have analyzed and clustered your questions, and for each cluster I describe:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the type of questions they are<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what they say about your way of working<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>typical examples (paraphrased)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Strategic change and communication questions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIs this approach substantively and strategically sound?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the largest cluster. You use ChatGPT as a sparring partner at a strategic level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You test whether an approach is logical, complete, and consistent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You explicitly connect communication to change, behavior, and organizational context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are not looking for standard models, but for tailored solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does this communication approach fit the change challenge?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which change color is dominant\u2014and what does that mean?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Am I missing an important track (leadership, channels, monitoring)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where are the risks or blind spots?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You think like a designer of change, not like an executor of tools. Communication is never a standalone product for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>I do indeed use ChatGPT as a kind of sounding board. In my personal profile, I\u2019ve entered a lot of information from my two most recent books, so the system knows how I think. That usually works well, although you do need to stay sharp. Sometimes it adds a bit too much of its own interpretation. But as a check, it\u2019s really helpful. It keeps me on my toes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Structuring, organizing, and clustering<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHelp me see patterns in complexity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A very clear second cluster: you let ChatGPT organize what is diffuse or overwhelming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intake forms, feedback, loose ideas, contradictory answers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You explicitly ask for clustering <em>and<\/em> for naming differences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can you cluster these intake responses?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where are the contradictions or tensions?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can you summarize this per question?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you see dominant themes or fragmentation instead?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You work a lot with groups, diversity, and multiple perspectives. You look for overview without flattening nuance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>For me, AI is a real time-saver here. I like to use online intakes, and AI is incredibly fast at clustering those. As a result, I\u2019m using online intakes more and more. And just to reassure you, I also have regular conversations with participants.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Translating ideas into work formats, cases, and interventions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow do we make this concrete and usable?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are strikingly often engaged in the step from thinking to doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workshops, training sessions, off-sites, learning situations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You want participants to <em>experience<\/em> and <em>apply<\/em> things themselves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is a good case for this group?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can they really try out the canvas for their own situation?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which work format fits this change color?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do I make this interactive instead of just broadcasting?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You have a strong didactic and facilitative orientation. Not \u201cI explain it,\u201d but \u201cthey need to work with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>I love how ChatGPT helps me offer tailored solutions, for example in in-company training sessions. Sometimes during a training, it turns out the group wants to further develop a specific case\u2014and I can then prepare that case on the spot.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Writing, rewriting, and sharpening tone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAm I saying this right\u2014and for whom?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A large part of your questions revolves around language, style, and readability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From strategic documents to LinkedIn posts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You actively steer tone: empathetic, clear, not too bullet-heavy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can you write this out as continuous text?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fewer bullets, more story<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is this empathetic enough?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is this understandable for employees \/ students \/ managers?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You are language-aware <em>and<\/em> audience-aware. For you, form is not cosmetic, but part of the effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>This is one of the most frequently used applications of AI for me. It\u2019s especially enjoyable to move from change-related questions to a first draft of a change narrative.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Consistency with your own models and vision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoes this fit <em>my<\/em> way of looking at things?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You explicitly use ChatGPT to ensure everything aligns with your own framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Regular references to your canvas, change colors, guiding principles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You correct it when something feels \u201ctoo generic\u201d or \u201cnot your approach\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can you link this to my Internal Communication Canvas?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where do you see my change communication approach reflected?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which color dominates here?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does this fit with empathetic change narratives?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You don\u2019t see ChatGPT as an author, but as a co-thinker within <em>your<\/em> frame. You retain ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>A very practical way to see which \u201cchange color\u201d is dominant in a piece of text. Extremely useful.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Reflective and testing questions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhere could this go wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You ask critical questions about assumptions and risks remarkably often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You look for friction, not confirmation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You explicitly ask what\u2019s missing or what doesn\u2019t sit right<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What fits less well here?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which expectations are unrealistic?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where are the tensions between vision and practice?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does this feeling make sense\u2014that this case doesn\u2019t fit?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You are reflective and professionally critical. You use doubt productively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>It\u2019s great to use AI as a check to see whether you might be wearing blinders in your analysis. AI can really help you look at a situation from multiple angles.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Practical, instrumental questions (supportive)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow does this actually work?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A smaller but recurring cluster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Characteristics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tools, technology, formats, small practical issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always functional, never just for fun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Typical questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do I set this up properly in MailerLite?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which communication formats are emerging?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do I make this suitable for mobile?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What this says<\/strong><br>You want strategy to work in practice, all the way down to execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reflection \u2013 Huib<\/em><\/strong><em><br>Over the past few months, ChatGPT has been an amazing tool for implementing a new website, newsletter, and other technical systems. Whenever I got stuck, I shared a screenshot of the situation, and in almost all cases AI helped me move forward. It saved me many sleepless nights. Truly fantastic!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overall profile (summary)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When ChatGPT puts all my questions together, it seems I mostly ask questions like:<br>\u201cHow do I design change and internal communication that is substantively sound, feels human, is strategically coherent, <em>and<\/em> works in practice?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to ChatGPT, I primarily use it as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a framework enhancer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a structuring tool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a critical mirror<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an editorial partner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And not as a quick-answer machine. It also turned out that my questions can be divided into functional questions, innovative questions, and uncomfortable questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>About 60\u201365% of the questions are functional<br>\u2192 necessary to maintain pace, quality, and consistency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>25\u201330% are clearly innovative<br>\u2192 this is where new language and sharper insights emerge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5\u201310% touch on truly uncomfortable questions<br>\u2192 that\u2019s where the greatest development potential lies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, AI often formulates answers in a positive tone. I want to take a closer look at that, to use AI in an even more targeted way. How do <em>you<\/em> use AI? Have you ever asked the systems themselves\u2014and do you recognize this?
