Good communication at work isn’t just helpful—it makes work enjoyable

On this site, you’ll find my books, blogs, and ideas, as well as the ways I support organizations with advice, workshops, and keynotes. Feel free to look around and discover how communication can give your change real momentum.

Internal Communication (in Dutch)

Strategies, Methods, and Roles

Effective internal communication boosts both engagement and performance. This essential guide walks you through, step by step, how listening, research, and smart interventions can strengthen employee engagement across your organization.

Change Communication (in Dutch)

Change is everywhere. This book shows how to use communication as the driving force behind organizational transformation. With practical examples, proven models, and a clear color framework, it helps you build—step by step—a change approach that provides direction and creates connection.

“If change communication is part of your work, read this book carefully. It gives you thirty years of hands-on experience in a compact form.”

What I Do

Consulting

I help organizations, communication teams, and change teams design an approach that truly fits. No off-the-shelf recipes, but tailor-made solutions. Together, we’ll work on strengthening internal communication or navigating major change—exactly what your situation calls for.

Training

For years I’ve been giving training programs in internal communication—and I still love doing it. Also as in-company programs in Dutch or English. From getting the basics right to mastering communication during change: always practical, inspiring, and ready to apply.

Speaking

I give keynotes and workshops on internal communication, drawing on my books and blogs. I also love to talk about inclusive and equitable communication (DEI): essential for making everyone feel welcome and engaged.

Trainings & Workshops

Giving workshops is probably the most fun part of my work. Exchanging ideas with a group and immediately translating them into practice gives me energy. In small groups (up to 12 participants), interaction and depth develop quickly. My books are often the starting point, but I always adapt the content to your organization.

Popular topics include:

  • Shaping your internal communication strategy with the IC Canvas

  • Organizing communication around a concrete change

You can join an open training or choose an in-company session—ideal for deepening knowledge or working together on a current challenge.

“Your calm approach, clear explanations, and structure were great! We sparred with other participants, worked hands-on with the frameworks, learned from one another—and had plenty of laughs along the way.”

Trends in the Field

Hybrid Work

Working from home brought freedom, but it can also undermine team spirit and creativity. Fewer in-person encounters mean less connection—to the organization and to each other. Time to rethink hybrid work. It calls for new agreements and a fresh vision for internal communication.

AI and Digitalization

AI is part of our daily reality and is reshaping how we work and collaborate. It brings amazing opportunities, but it will also make some tasks disappear. Communication plays a key role in helping employees understand, embrace, and trust AI—while keeping the human touch alive.

Polarization

Differences of opinion and clashes of perspective show up inside organizations too. Communication professionals need to notice the signals, build bridges, and create space for conversations that don’t shy away from tension. Polarization is the ultimate test of inclusive communication.

Who I Am

I’m naturally curious and I love to write. When ideas bubble up, I capture them in blogs, videos, and books. The most recent one: Change Communication.

I co-founded Wit Communicatie (2007–2012) and Orange Otters Change Communication (2015–2025), and I enjoy collaborating with fellow professionals, change makers, and creatives.

Outside of work, I’m fascinated by stories—in film, theater, opera, and music. For eight years, I chaired De Roze Filmdagen, Amsterdam’s LGBTQ+ film festival. Madonna is my soundtrack. Amsterdam is my city. Want to know more? Read on!
